SEMS was contracted by CH2M Hill to close a Soot Pond in Deer Park, Texas. We were brought in following a failed attempt to meet stringent air emissions standards and other health and safety issues facing previous contractor. The material was a very light hydrophobic compound that would become airborne with any stirring action. This project was completed without any permitting excursions and zero incidents.
Soot Pond Removal Work Included:
Removal of all soot to an offsite landfill
Development and implementation of a strategy including:
wind barriers
minimize disturbance
mister wetting
sealed transport
Offsite disposal of 6,500 cubic yards of contaminated soot
