SEMS was contracted to perform all work associated with the execution of the DAMCO, Inc. Waste Tire Disposal Facility Remediation. The site previously operated as a permitted waste tire processing facility. Before remediation began, the site had an estimated 10,000 bales of whole tires stored and an undetermined number of loose and oversized tires. The purpose of the project was to remediate the site by finishing a partially constructed lake dam using the waste tires.
Waste Tire Site Remediation Work Provided:
Construction of access roads and support areas
Before and after surveys of the tire dam
Clearing and stripping of vegetation
Installation of erosion and storm water control devices
Subgrade preparation and drainage layer construction
Rebinding tire bales that were compromised, banding loose tires, cutting oversized tires with a hydraulic shear
Transportation and placement of tire bales and oversized tires
Soil acquisition from a borrow pit, and placement of soil cover on the waste tire disposal/dam face
